Dear Parishioners,
We are celebrating the month that is dedicated to our Blessed Mother, the very month when Mary appeared to children in Fatima with a request for prayer and sacrifice.
This time of the year is also a special moment for me and my ten classmates, because in 2005 on the memorial of Saint Matthias (May 14th) we were ordained as priests at the cathedral of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul in Gliwice. We had spent almost six years together before we were finally approved to receive the sacrament of the Holy Orders. When we entered the gates of the seminary in Opole in 1999 our class had 37 candidates for 2 dioceses, but only 17 remained until the very end of the formation.
After twenty years from the day of our ordination, I deeply appreciate God’s patience and God’s grace. He’s been so kind, gentle and forgiving with us, his priests. God chooses us, imperfect men, to carry out his love to others and as priests we learn how to remain in the shade of Jesus Christ, The Eternal Priest and The Good Shepherd.
I wish to express my honest gratitude to so many of you for your prayers at our Notre Dame Church. In February 2019 I was sent to this village, and I trust in God’s wisdom and plan even (or especially) when I experience some challenges, which is part of life.
May Mary, our Notre Dame Patron, teach us how to be holy and loving. May she inspire us to become strong and courageous as she was in her earthly life.
Please, say a prayer for me,
Fr. Rafael Duda
