Dear Parishioners,
Last week in our local churches (Kerrville, Boerne, Bandera, Fredericksburg) we experienced an abundance of God’s love while we were celebrating The Sacrament of Reconciliation for many hours. God is calling us to return to Him. He wants to lead us through the brokenness of the earthly life. The most precious gift from our Heavenly Father is his love, mercy and forgiveness. It’s easy to be angry or upset. God never stops loving and searching for us. We can be cruel or judgmental with each other or ourselves, but He isn’t like us.
There are many wounds that people carry in their hearts. It’s pretty common that we are aggressive, negative or condemning, but God is willing to heal us, bless and forgive. There’s no other path to internal peace and intimacy with God who is Love.
If we have experience God’s forgiveness and absolution in the sacramental confession, let’s take that amazing grace and share it with others. We can all become healers if we choose to be gentle, if we keep negative thoughts to ourselves and allow love to flow through us. The most beautiful fruit of Lent should be the gift of kind and quiet love seen in our eyes, words, actions.
I hope you had a chance to find the grace of Lenten Confession. If not, take time to reflect on your life and choices that you regret and allow God to set you free.
Please, remember me and my brother priests in your prayers,
Fr. Rafael Duda
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on
Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek
the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms;
and we practice self-control through fasting.
By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert.

This program benefits those in our community served by the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Lent provides an opportunity for each of us to give generously – to show gratitude for God’s gift to us and to share those gifts with others.
